My wife and I discovered a great new drink a couple of months ago. We'd always like Cosmopolitans, but we tried something new and it was a hit. She had just opened one of these "Izze" blackberry sodas, which are really great by themselves. But I wanted a drink after work, so we came up with this variation on the Cosmo. Adding the Izze at the end to the glass instead of mixing it in the shaker helps keep the carbonation in the drink that gives it a little "sparkle" on the tongue.
2 oz Stolichnaya Citro vodka
1 oz Cointreau
1 tbs simple syrup (adjust to your sweetness preference)
Juice of 1/2-1 fresh lime
1-2 oz Izze blackberry soda (chilled in fridge)
Mix vodka, Cointreau, syrup, and lime juice in shaker with lots of ice. Shake and strain into chilled martini / cocktail glass. Add Izze at end.
Another variation that tastes great is to use a good tequila (like you'd use for a margarita) in place of the vodka. Would that be an "Izze-garita"?
